Facebook

Facebook has launched a new app called ‘Notify’, a simple way to aggregate notifications from a user’s favourite news sources and pages, visible from their lock screen. Read more

Facebook has started testing a Snapchat style feature where messages can be deleted after a set period of time. Read more

Not-for-profits will be the big beneficiaries of the new Fundraiser category in the ‘Pages’ feature. Similar to an event page, it will allow companies to raise money for a specific campaign and include donate buttons on its pages and posts, allowing people to donate directly from their newsfeeds. Twitter

Videos and gifs can now be played directly from the Twitter app without having to exit into a separate webpage. This update is currently available on mobile for iOS, and will soon be coming to Android. Read more

Twitter is updating its Poll tweets. You can now have more than just two options to choose from, and instead of a 1-day duration they can be scheduled to last multiple days. Read more

Google+

Google+ users might notice its new look interface, with easier access to the Communities and Collections features. Read more

YouTube

YouTube is introducing new translation tools to help user videos reach audiences beyond their home country or native language. This includes crowdsourced captioning, the option to translate titles and descriptions, and a beta ‘marketplace’ for finding translations for videos. Read more
